When I asked Kiril and Sonya what their vision was for their wedding day, they said they wanted a “gay,” ethereal wonderland which is exactly how it felt on their beautiful celebration day. Kiril and Sonya met years ago when their dads worked together, but when they came across each other again on Tinder, they couldn’t help but reconnect. Together they are silly and lovey and share a love of boats and a lot of whimsy - much of which comes through in their much of their wedding full of handmade, diy decor and fairy-themed details. They knew Rengstorff House would be the perfect place to get married because it was along their favorite bike path that they walked and biked along almost everyday and glowed during golden hour. Sonya and Kiril paid homage to their cultural backgrounds by incorporating both jewish and Bulgarian traditions in their ceremony and reception including a Bulgarian entrance with a ceremonial bread and dance and a similar Jewish bread and dance tradition. They also incorporated details that brought their whimsical, silly day to life - they handed out ribbon wands, bubbles and glow sticks to each guests to wave for the ceremony, they set out an art show of their own art for their guests to enjoy during cocktail hour, they used baskets filled with whimsical trinkets as their centerpieces, and created the perfect background vibe with a live band - one that Kiril even jumped in to perform and sing to kick off their first dance. They even greeted the sunset with a golden hour session doing something they love - riding bikes. Listening to the way their loved ones spoke about them in toasts and passing by, it was so easy to see how they were loved deeply by their friends and family.
